Americas' Secret Pastime: Jarts aka Lawn Darts
Sunday, June 17, 2007After a recent rise in popularity, lawn darts has been endangering the lives of those dearest to us. To this end I am calling for the disposal of all lawn darts within the United States. The game of Jarts is no laughing matter -- in fact this 'sport' was originally banned by the CPSC in 1988 after Jarts accounted for the death of 3 children.
Lawn Jarts regained notoriety in 1997 when the CPSC had to reissue its warning after a 7 year old suffered a brain injury no thanks to a lawn dart. We can no longer afford to play lawn darts in ignorance.
The danger presented by lawn darts is clear and evident - in comparing the issues lawn darts presents versus fireworks, there is no wonder possessing a jart is a criminal offense. Over a 10 year period Jarts accounted for 6,700 injuries and 3 deaths. On the other hand, in 1999, fireworks accounted for 85,000 hospital visits and just 16 deaths.
The numbers don't lie -- if you happen to find your self in possession of said lawn jarts you should dispose of them as quickly as possible. I suggest visiting ioffer.com where you can unload a complete set for upwards of $100.
