Parallelism and Heartbeats
Wednesday, April 18, 2007So, for all of you wondering if indeed we have chosen Chloe as the top choice for the name of the baby if it is a girl, take a look at the other poll. Indeed, one could ascertain that perhaps Jack Bauer is not a viable name for a baby born to a mother who is five foot one. Similarly, Chloe O'Brien (the inspiration for the name choice of Chloe) is rountinely described on 24 as having a "personality disorder" and she frowns a lot. Do I seem like the type of person who wants to doom her child into something like that? I should hope not. So, have no fear...Chloe is not really a name we are considering for the baby, should it turn out to be girl. (Although, I'd take Chloe's computer hacking skills and give them to my children, but only if they came free of the "personality disorder" issue.) So, for those of you wondering why we would suggest a name we wouldn't even consider, the term is parallelism. Our first poll included a 24 character, thus to keep it even and entertaining...we had to use a female 24 character, and Karen Hayes just didn't seem like a baby name...
On a happier note, yesterday was visit #2 to the doctor. We heard the baby's heartbeat, 160 beats per minute, which the doctor described as
"perfect." Adam's assessment of the whole thing? "With a heart beat that fast, this baby MUST be a boy!" According to legend (does anyone else think that is a funny phrase?) a fast heart beat means the baby is a boy, a slower one means the baby is a girl. However, medical research has shown this to not be true..(don't tell Adam) but did manage to prove that during labor, baby girls have a faster heart rate than baby boys.
For those of you longing for an update on our wonderful Primary class, I noticed we haven't had any funny stories about them lately, this week we have to do sharing time and include the kids in the presentation. We'll let you know how it goes.
